License Server Overview

The MotorXP License Server manages floating licenses for MotorXP-PM v1.2+ and MotorXP-AFM v1.2+ on a local or corporate network. It lets a team share a pool of licenses across computers that can reach the server, with the number of simultaneous computers limited by the purchased license capacity.

How floating licenses work #

One license per connected computer. Multiple MotorXP client applications running on the same computer use a single server license.
Shared access. When all licenses are in use, another computer can connect once a license becomes available.
Centralized management. Administrators can view connected hosts, monitor license usage and disconnect hosts from the server.

Note. Client computers share floating licenses, while the server license is tied to the MAC address(es) of the License Server computer. The server must remain available for clients to use licensed functionality.

Deployment and requirements #

Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Location: a dedicated server computer or a computer that also runs MotorXP-PM/AFM.
Product types: PM and AFM use separate License Server installations, which can run on the same computer or on different computers.
Default network ports: TCP 43101 for PM and TCP 43102 for AFM. Clients need the server IP address or DNS name and the corresponding port; the firewall must allow this traffic.

Getting started #

Contact info@motorxp.com to request the License Server installer and license. An online installer is available for computers with Internet access, and an offline installer is available for closed corporate networks. Install and activate the appropriate server type, then configure the MotorXP clients to connect to it.
