Parameterizing Simscape PMSM Blocks with MotorXP

MotorXP - Electric Machine Design and Analysis Software

Simscape Electrical

Simscape Electrical is a MATLAB Simulink-based tool that enables the modeling and simulation of electrical systems, including electromechanical and power systems. It provides a comprehensive set of blocks and functions for simulating electrical circuits, motor and drive systems, renewable energy systems, and more. By using Simscape Electrical, engineers can create accurate and detailed simulations to analyze system performance, optimize designs, and validate control strategies.

FEM-Parameterized PMSM Block

FEM-Parameterized Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) block in Simscape Electrical allows for the simulation of PMSMs using finite element method (FEM) data. This block provides a high-fidelity representation of the motor by incorporating detailed magnetic properties and geometries obtained from FEM analysis. It enables precise modeling of the nonlinear motor behavior, including torque and back EMF harmonics, resistive losses, iron core and magnet losses, as well as precise dynamic performance, which is essential for designing and optimizing control strategies for PMSM drives.

Integration with MotorXP

In order to simplify and expedite the parameterization process, we provide MATLAB scripts that use MotorXP to generate data for parameterizing Simscape PMSM blocks for both radial flux and axial flux machines. Download the latest MotorXP MATLAB scripts below:
